Creating a campaign in Google Ads is easy if you know what do you want from a campaign for your business. Having a clear strategy and direction can help your business get seen by more customers and grow an online presence.

While creating a campaign in Google Ads, using a goal will help you in decision making with specific features designed. This will help your campaign succeed.

When you create a campaign, you can select a goal as per your business requirements. You can add or remove a goal at any time you want. When you place your cursor over a goal, you can see more information about each goal type with its highlighted features.

Before selecting a goal, you must know what do you want from your campaign, for example, Sales, Website traffic, App promotion, Brand awareness, etc. Once you know your objectives of the campaign, you can select a goal.

In this goal, you’ll see relevant recommend features and settings which will help you attain the results. Here you can determine where to show your advertisement to the customers. You can use either image or videos for the promotion of your business.

Goals for Sales Campaigns

Sales will help you drive conversions or sales online, in-app, by phone, or in-store. This will help you engage with customers with whom you are already in contact or are very close to purchasing.

After selecting your goals like sales, you’ll see its campaign types as shown below.

Here you can see five different campaign types: Search, Display, Shopping, Video, Smart.

Now, for the ‘Search‘ campaign, you’ll have to select the ways you’d like to reach your goal. And for that Google ads provide you options like,

  • Website visit
  • Phone calls
  • Store visits
  • App downloads

In Website visits, you’ll have to write your business website that you are going to promote.

In Phone calls, you can select a country and your given phone number.

Similarly, for Store visits, you have to enter your location and you can select your location on the next step. This step is used so that, the targeted customers will be able to locate your business location and visit your store.

For App downloads, you should select your mobile app’s platform. It might be Android or iOS.

After all the selection, you’ll have to continue and this will lead you to the campaign setting page. Here you have to fill some information related to your campaign.

The above pages displayed after continuing. Here you have to write a “Campaign name”, that you are going to run for your business. For the next option “Network” you have further two options

(a) Search Network:- This helps to find out the relevant keywords when people search for the terms. If this option is selected you’ll be able to find out only the relevant keywords not more than that.

(b) Display Network:- This helps you to expand your reach by showing ads to relevant customers as they browse sites, videos and apps across the internet. It is made up of millions of websites.

Every ad you run has the potential to appear in front of the internet user through Display Network. Display ads can appear in the following formats:-

  1. Text:- Display a headline, two lines of text and a URL.
  2. Banner:- This includes images and media, so animations and custom layouts can be used.
  3. Gmail:- It appears in Gmail inbox.
  4. App:- This targets specific mobile app categories.

After all this, in the next step, you can see “See More Settings”.

As you can see above, it contains three options. In the first option, you can set the starting and ending dates of your campaign. After selecting the date it will automatically start and stop your campaign in the given date. You can escape this step if you don’t want.

Similarly, the second option is the URL that you want the ad click go-to for tracking. And the last option Dynamic Search Ads helps you find customers. It targets relevant searches automatically based on your website. This setting determines what domain, language, and targeting source to use for your ads.

Dynamic Search Ads(DSA) use your website to target your ads and can help fill in the gaps of your keywords based on campaigns. Many keywords can miss relevant searches, experience delays getting ads written for new products without this.

But at last again, you are responsible for the final text that appears in your ad. So be very careful while choosing the targeting source.

The next option you have to fill is about your “Target and Audience”. In this section, you have to choose who you want to reach.

Here you can choose the location where you want to target. It might be a single country or all countries. It depends on where you want to advertise your business.

Now there is an option “Advance Search” as seen above. When we click on it you will land on the next page.

Here you will get two options to target your audience.

(a) Location:- In this section, you can enter a location to target in bulk, for example, a country, city, region, or postal code. You can use google map for this.

(b) Radius:- Whereas in this section, you can choose the radius from the selected location. When you choose the target location, here now you can enter the radius that you want to cover.

Now we have the next option “Location options”. As you can see below, according to your targeted location you can target people also.

Then we have “Languages” where you can choose the language that your targeted audience speaks and understand.

Similarly, now we have “Audiences” which help you to select the different sectors audience to add according to your campaign.

This section is used to show your ads to a specific audience based on who they are, what they are searching for, and how they have interacted with your business. This helps you reach the right customers.

Next option is “Budget”, where you have to enter the average that you want to spend each day. You can spend money according to your business size.

The next one is the “Bidding”. This depends on which network your campaign is targeting, whether you want to focus on getting clicks, impressions, or conversions.

After all these settings, when you click on “Save and Continue” you will move to “Set up ads groups”. This lets you organize and target your ads. You can add one or more ads and find out related keywords for your business too. When you type your keyword, Google will suggest as many as other related keywords. You can choose the keywords suggested there and use for your business.

Finally, you will be on the page where you will create ads.

As you can see here, you have to write headlines and description related to your business. The data that you fill in the left side of your form will appear on the right side as marked above. This is exactly how your headlines and description will be shown in the browser.

Now you will go to the final page where your campaign is ready to use with all the settings.

And then finally you can continue to campaign and again create a new campaign.
